Your guide to seamless firearm transfers
At Cedar Lane Firearms, we make ordering your next firearm online simple and straightforward. Follow the simple steps below to ensure a smooth transfer and pickup.
Before you buy: Ensure our FFL is on file
The most important step for any online firearm transfer through Cedar Lane Firearms is ensuring our Federal Firearms License (FFL) is on file with the online retailer you're purchasing from. If they do not have our FFL information, you must contact us to send it to them promptly. This ensures a legal and efficient transfer process.
Step-by-step: ordering your firearm
Ready to purchase? Here's how to ensure a smooth process:
If you want us to do the work
- If you want us to order something for you: Text or email us with what you're looking for, and we will get pricing for you to review. This is the easiest way to buy, and it allows us to access pricing you may not have access to.
- Once you confirm the pricing and instruct us to proceed: We will take a deposit and get the order moving. This starts the Maine 72 hour waiting period so most times by the time the firearm arrives, the waiting period has been fulfilled.
- Once the firearm arrives: We will schedule a pickup time and complete the process.
If you want to order yourself and just have us perform the transfer
- Find the firearm you want online: Browse your favorite online retailers for the firearm you wish to purchase.
- Add to cart and start checkout: Proceed to checkout once you've made your selection.
- Select FFL: When prompted to select an FFL, search for "04276" or "Rumford, ME". Then, find and select "Cedar Lane Firearms."
- Can't find us? If Cedar Lane Firearms is not listed, please reach out to us immediately, and we will send a copy of our FFL to the dealer ASAP.
- Finish checkout and pay: Complete your purchase and payment for your item. This starts the Maine 72 hour waiting period so most times by the time the firearm arrives, the waiting period has been fulfilled.
- Avoid mixing items: Please try not to include other non-firearm items with your purchase, as they will all be shipped to our location.
- Provide contact info: Be sure your name and contact information are also on the order so we know who to contact when the firearm arrives.
- Shipping & arrival: The order will be processed and shipped directly to our location. Shipping times vary by online retailer.
- Paperwork & Pickup: Once your firearm arrives, we will reach out to you to arrange a convenient time to do paperwork and pickup.

What is the state's guidance and when does the clock start on the 72-hour waiting period?
A seller may not knowingly deliver a firearm to a buyer sooner than 72 hours after the agreement. The time period begins when the buyer and the seller have entered into an agreement for the purchase and sale of a specifically identified firearm.
